There are 50,000 tickets available for music fans across the weekend, but we expect demand will massively exceed supply and that tickets will go very quickly. A non-refundable event admin fee of £8.50 per ticket will be applied to cover ticket handling, postage and other event administration costs.

BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend moves to a different area of the UK each year and there is always a degree of preference to local residents. Staging this event would be impossible without the co-operation and support of both Exeter City Council and Teignbridge District Council and so tickets will be divided into three pots:

  1. 60% of tickets will be reserved for those living within the areas covered by Exeter City Council and Teignbridge District Council
  2. 35% of tickets will be reserved for residents living in surrounding parts of the South West who have any other Exeter (EX) or Torquay (TQ) codes; and those with Truro (TR), Plymouth (PL), Taunton (TA) and Dorchester (DT) postcodes
  3. The remaining 5% will be available to the rest of the UK

Radio 1’s Academy will include a series of special events, local engagement and face-to-face activity in the area, beginning in April and culminating in May with a packed week of radio shows, gigs, masterclasses and Q&As. Keep listening to Radio 1 for further details.

We understand this is a major event so it will have an impact on the surrounding area. We are working with event professionals including the BBC Radio 1 events team, the city council events and environmental protection teams, the emergency services and transport providers, to minimise disruption.
