Queen Gwendolen’s Spell presents Music to Inspire Peace
Kerenza Peacock, renowned soloist with the RPO and LSO, and Jackie Shave, former leader of the Britten Sinfonia, are now based in Cornwall. Together, they are assembling a world-class string ensemble at Powderham for a spellbinding programme featuring Hildegard von Bingen, Beethoven, Debussy, a Ukrainian folk melody, and a new piece inspired by the castle’s history.
Named after Queen Gwendolen, an ancient Cornish ruler who united Britain 3,000 years ago, the ensemble reflects her spirit of healing and unity. These passionate musicians believe in music’s power to connect, inspire, and transcend.
