World renowned Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is returning to Powderham Castle this summer for a classical music extravaganza with spectacular fireworks.

The Last Night of the BSO Proms is being staged in the wonderful surroundings of the historic castle near Exeter on Sunday, July 30.

Thousands of fans are expected to descend on the venue – home of the Earl and Countess of Devon – for the flag-waving night to remember.

It is a first return for the BSO to Powderham – following a series of sell-out Proms concerts – after a five-year absence, and comes in response to strong popular demand from the local community in and around Powderham, for which the Last Night of the BSO Proms is a favourite.

Tickets for this celebration of everything British are sure to sell fast.

The Proms concert will be held in front of one of Britain’s finest castles – with a spectacular fireworks finale, set to music, lighting up the skies above the historic building.
The programme will consist of many of the traditional Proms pieces performed at the BBC Proms season at the Royal Albert Hall in London – plus a few surprises.

The celebrated BSO will be led by acclaimed French conductor Victor Aviat and will perform with two leading guest soloists (who are also the narrators) in the acclaimed husband and wife team of baritone Stephen Gadd and soprano Claire Rutter.

Internationally-recognised, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1893, performs more than 150 concerts each year across the south and also tours the world’s most prestigious venues.

The Orchestra also has a residency at the Great Hall at Exeter University, playing at least monthly during the winter with five concerts scheduled up to May.

Powderham’s outdoor picnic style concert event will also feature a selection of food stalls and bars within the concert arena.

Gates open at 5.30pm, the concert starts at 7.30pm (interval 8.15pm-8.45pm) and the fireworks finale is at 10pm
Tickets are: £27.50 adults, £16.50 children six to 16 (under-sixes free), £75 family (2 adults, 2 children), £27.50 disabled (carer goes free). There are discounts for group bookings of 10 or more. A booking fee of £2.50 applies per booking. Car parking is free.
