Tours

Join one of our expert guides for an immersive journey through the castle’s storied past. These tours are free of charge and run daily. To book a tour, please speak to the team at the Welcome Centre.

Please note that our tours are very popular and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

For those who like to explore at their own leisure, the castle is open for free-flow entry.

Nature Backpacks

Our Children’s Nature Backpacks are now available for hire, equipped with everything young explorers need for outdoor adventures including a bug catching net, magnifying glass, bug inspector glass, and binoculars.

These can be hired from the Welcome Centre at a small cost.

Powderham Picnics

Join us for a delightful afternoon tea takeaway experience. Indulge in a freshly baked scone, served with jam, cream, and your choice of Prosecco or elderflower as an alternative.

Picnics must be pre-booked in advance.

Walking Routes

Enjoy a scenic circular walking route through Powderham’s woodlands, leading to various spots of interest.

The adventurous can trek to the Belvedere Tower in about 40 minutes from the Welcome Centre, passing by attractions like the working Forge and the American Garden.

Stone tracks make the routes accessible, but caution is advised on slippery paths.

Walled Garden & Petting Zoo

The Secret Garden play area and pets corner are home to the many friendly Powderham pets and our Courtenay Fort play area.

The Secret Garden Animals

Meet our gentle residents, from fluffy guinea pigs, donkeys, ponies, alpacas and woolly sheep to playful goats and curious chickens. Experience hands-on encounters as you learn about each animal’s unique traits and behaviours from our wonderful team.

Goat Walks

Experience the charm of goat walking at Powderham! Join us for a delightful stroll with our friendly goats through picturesque trails around the estate.

Pony Grooming

Spend quality time with Kinder, our gentle pony and Harry the donkey as you brush, pamper, and bond with them.

Pony grooming must be booked in advance and participants must be aged 4+.

Alpaca Walking

Available during the summer months, this fun and unique experience allows you to take our loveable Alpacas for a walk around the beautiful grounds.

Children must be 12+ and accompanied by an adult.

Bird Feeding

Partake in feeding the birds at Powderham from Sunday to Friday between 10am and 4pm. For just £1.50 per bag, you can keep the resident ducks and chickens happy by feeding them in the Secret Garden.

Limited bags of food are available for purchase at the Welcome Centre on a first-come first-served basis.
