The castle, originally built in 1391 has been the setting of many love stories, not least the current Earl and Countess, Charlie and AJ. Who, after their own ceremony on the Rose Terrace, love to open the doors of their family home for you to experience the magic first hand in this unique country wedding venue. Whether you are looking for a simple ceremony, rambunctious reception or a whole weekend getaway, Powderham has an abundance of venues to excite and amaze your guests as one of the most spectacular places to get married in Devon.
Our exquisite interiors provide inspiring backdrops or secret sanctuaries for each part of your day. We have two enchanting open-air ceremony garden buildings, surrounded by the magic of the Powderham woodlands, that as well as being licensed for legal marriages, provide a beautiful contrast to the grandeur of the state rooms within the castle. This makes Powderham one of the most unique wedding venues in Devon, and steeped in history, one of the most magical.
When it comes to your wedding breakfast, we work with some of Devon’s finest chefs and caterers. Our recommended suppliers can provide delightful dishes to satisfy all tastes and all suppliers recommended by the castle have been carefully vetted, tried and tested to bring you brilliant service and make the planning process effortless.
Our bar can be tailored to you and your guests, whether it’s a signature cocktail, a particular liqueur or a favourite ale we are happy to source it for you.
The castle and grounds were designed and built for entertaining and can transform to suit the many languages of romance and celebration. From swinging bands to foot-stompin’ ceilidhs or brilliant DJs helping you throw some shapes into the night, we embrace all forms of evening entertainment.
When the night draws to a close you can ascend via the majestic staircase hall to our romantic Honeymoon suite. Complete with panoramic estuary and park views, which can be admired with a continental or full cooked breakfast the next morning from the comfort of your room. Friends and family are also welcome to stay in the castle, and we offer up to 8 additional bedrooms, a large dining room and self-catering kitchen.
